Finding a real home
We want to expand and develop Centrepoint’s existing services, including a rent deposit scheme which is in some areas linked to partnerships with private sector landlords. Using LandAid funds, a worker will be employed to forge new relationships with private sector landlords and to co-ordinate young people’s move-on options, including flat-shares, and subsequent support for the first few months in their new home.

Support from volunteers
Volunteers can play a crucial role in providing role models, friendship and occupational advice to individual young people, or as part of the learning programme, and can provide continuity as a young person moves home or moves into different forms of education or work. However, resources and co-ordination are needed to recruit and support the volunteers themselves, as well as matching them with work which will be of benefit to, and appreciated by, the young people. Land Aid funding and access to a bank of volunteers from within the property industry will enable increased human and financial resources to go into the development of this programme.
