LandAid presence at MIPIM |
|
|
LandAid made its first foray into the surreal world of MIPIM this year thanks to the extraordinary generosity of DLA Piper's property team who took CEO Julian Smyth and Administrator Annette Sanders to the event and looked after them wonderfully.
It is a strange experience for charity professionals to see the world's property industry on show in one French town, surrounded by luxury yachts, Cossack dancers, endless cocktail parties and blue skies. But the real purpose of all of this - networking - is a universal constant which geography does not effect, and so after a day's orientation, the LandAid team knuckled down to meeting as many people as possible and promulgated their message for all it was wqrth.
At least two major areas of support were secured, many more potential supporters expressed interest, and there could have been few at the event as a whole who were not aware of LandAid's existence thanks to over twenty UK stands sporting our logo, three boats with a LandAid flag, and many delegates dragooned into wearing a LandAid lapel badge.
In addition, the infamous C2C cycle ride which ended at MIPIM chose LandAid as one of this year's beneficiaries to further increase our profile. Special thanks must go to David Taylor and Sarah Wood at DLA Piper for not merely arranging the trip, but for treating the team like royalty and going to so much trouble.
