National Surveyors' Sevens Tournament |

Well, it rained on our parade! Having been fortunate enough to be chosen by the organisers of the National Surveyors' Sevens Tournament at Richmond on May 13, Nature did its best to spoiil everything by dropping umpteen zillion gallons of water on our heads for most of the day. But how little does It know of the fortitude, the strength of character, and the downright stubborness of property types when it comes to the opportunity to see the industry's young Adonises strut their stuff on the rugby field (and have the odd drink in the process)!
Foundations for Life was the chosen beneficiary of the event and a substantial team of LandAid and Centrepoint staff and volunteers braved the elements to shake buckets, sell programmes and lottery tickets and generally fly the flag of this most important project (click here for more details of Foundations for Life). Some £4,500 was raised for the project from a crowd estimated at between three and four thousand which, on top of the most generous donation from the organisers, should net well over £20,000 for the cause.
King Sturge were the worthy winners for the third time in succession and comprehensively outplayed RICS Matrics in the final. The epic performance of former Bath and Scotland no.8 Eric Peters had something to do with it, no doubt, but it was a wonderful all-round performance from the whole team.
Turner & Townsend's Navaz Chichgar won the first prize in the raffle (two tickets for the forthcoming Princess Diana Memorial Concert at Wembley) and two streakers dressed only in blue stetsons successfully drowned out the Chief Executive's thank-you speech at the end of the day. Many thanks to everyone who turned out, volunteered to help with the day, supported our collectors and generally made sure that a great time was had by all despite the conditions.
