It was not the usual day in the office for the companies and individuals from the property industry who took part in the first ever LandAid Day on Friday 15 October 2010!! Thank you to everyone who took part, our target is to raise £100,000 to fund projects that transform the lives of the young and disadvantaged.
Argent were one of the companies who started LandAid Day early with a poker match on Thursday evening followed by teams from Berwin Leighton Paisner who completed the LandAid Day Treasure Hunt in The City and retired for refreshments at the Jamaica Inn.On Friday morning early birds at MEPC started their 12 hour row-a-thon, fifty employees from GVA Grimley braved the cold winds in The City to abseil down the International Press Centre, more Treasure Hunt teams were running around London, Edinburgh and Manchester, Mike Slade and Helical Bar were stopping traffic in Mayfair dressed as superheroes and driving a pedi-bus!
By lunch time LandAid Chief Executive Jon Siddall and trustees Rob Bould, Robin Broadhurst, Lynette Lackey and Liz Peace had also abseiled down the International Press Centre. Cushman and Wakefield had had a conker competition and tucked in to school dinners.
In the afternoon the Property Week Champions League Football tournament kicked off, Estates Gazette presented the trophies to the winning Treasure Hunt teams and the fundraising continued in to the night with plays and rock gigs courtesy of the London Communications Agency and Canary Wolf!
Many other companies were fundraising on the day and all week by having office bake sales, selling pin badges, basketball shootouts, dressing up, dressing down and shining shoes! Including the British Property Federation, British Land, CBRE, DLA Piper, Hammerson, Knight Frank, Land Securities, Mountgrange, PRUPIM and Savills
