Carter Jonas Yorkshire Pedalthon raises over £16000 for LandAid

Last Friday saw the return of the Carter Jonas Yorkshire Pedalthon in support of LandAid. As it entered its fourth year it promised to be bigger and better than ever and wow did it deliver!

The ride started and ended at the historic Theakston Brewery in Masham. After a few rather questionable attempts of marshalling on my part, over 350 riders were off to take in either a 40 or 80-mile route through the glorious Yorkshire Dales.

Along the way riders were greeted with what I can only describe as the best feed stations I have ever witnessed on an organised ride. Thanks to the incredible generosity of Yorkshire Tea, The Wensleydale Creamery, Heck Food, Appleton’s Butchers, Yorkshire Provender, Dine and Baltzersen, riders could taste the best of Yorkshire whilst fuelling up for the rest of the route. Needless to say, the spread was enough to make MasterChef’s very own Greg Wallace proud.

The culinary tour of Yorkshire continued once riders had completed the day, being rewarded with legendary Theakston Ale on tap, rotisserie chicken sandwiches and Brymor Ice Cream for dessert. Essentially every cyclists’ dream after a tough ride.

We are delighted that the event raised over £16,400 for LandAid and counting. The majority of the money raised this year will go towards Canopy Housing who provide decent affordable accommodation for people that are homeless or in housing need in Yorkshire. We were equally delighted that seven riders from Canopy Housing also took part in the ride itself.

LandAid would like to thank Carter Jonas for their incredible support, the riders who took part and Iconic Cycling Events for facilitating such a well organised and safe ride.

I would also like to personally thank the friendly residents of Masham who welcome our cyclists each year in true Yorkshire style.

See you all again next year!
