One of UK’s largest house builders Bellway PLC donated £2,750 to the property industry charity LandAid. The donation was made at a recent LandAidreception held to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Stuart Wallace, Managing Director of Bellway North London commented: "We are very impressed with the level of work that LandAid undertakes for the less fortunate in society and are delighted to support their efforts." Speaking at the occasion, Rob Bould, Chairman of LandAid’s Fundraising Committee said, “We would like to thank Bellway for their generosity. It’s great to see the property industry come forward to support the cause of the disadvantaged young who are particularly hard-hit in the current economic climate. We have also had a great response to LandAid Day, being held on October 13 and hope to raise £125,000 from the fantastic fund-raising efforts of the industry on the day.”
Nearly 100 senior professionals from the UK commercial property sector turned out last night to celebrate LandAid's 25th anniversary. At a special reception, hosted by Berwin Leighton Paisner, LandAid showed how, despite the current economic climate, their income has continued to grow.
Key achievements for 2010-11 included:
Target of 40 Foundation Partners (companies contributing £10,000 per annum for three years) surpassed (42 by year end and 49 to date)
Income exceeded £1million, a rise of over 15%
66% increase in funding projects that help disadvantaged young people achieve their potential
Nine LandAid funded centres in operation and three more in progress
Commenting on the occasion, Robin Broadhurst, Chairman, LandAid said, “Despite the current climate LandAid has been going from strength to strength. In 2010-11 we have committed £640,000 to fund 18 projects across the country with leading youth agencies Centrepoint, Fairbridge and Llamau among many others.”
LandAid is delighted to be the beneficiary charity for the third year in a row of The Movers & Shakers Annual Dinner held at The Dorchester on 7 December where the special guest will be Jo Brand.
The event, which has raised over £40,000 for LandAid, attracts leading property professionals for an evening of networking, dinner and entertainment.

The fifth annual Property Race Day held at Ascot on 8 July attracted 660 property professionals and was another tremendous success. £170,000 was raised for charities including LandAid, SOS Children's Villages and Hope and Homes for Children.
Proceeds from The Property Race Day 2010 and this year's event has enabled LandAid to give over £100,000 to The Association for Research into Stammering in Childhood towards a new flagship therapy centre in London. The centre which will help young people who stammer is named after its celebrity patron, Michael Palin, who has paid thanks in this film.
