Sir Terry Wogan gives LandAid's Party Near The Park a glorious send-offLast night Sir Terry Wogan hosted the 10th and final Party Near The Park at Old Billingsgate Market, the infamous karaoke extravaganza, that has raised another £100,000 for LandAid, the property industry charity. Some of the biggest names in the commercial property world took part, belting out a selection of hits in the hope of winning the most text votes from the 900-strong audience. Emerging victorious were Mike Slade and his ‘Helicalettes’ with Alice Cooper’s ‘Poison’, closely followed by runners-up Nick Leslau of Prestbury performing the Beatles, ‘Twist and Shout’ and Liz Peace of the British Property Federation and Claer Barrett of the Financial Times performing ‘Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves’. Mike Slade, President, LandAid and Chief Executive, Helical Bar said: “Over the last 10 years it’s been great to see so many of the industry’s top players grab a microphone in the name of charity. Through LandAid, thousands of young people now have hope, ambition and new skills where they had none before. It’s wonderful to see.” Jon Siddall, Chief Executive, LandAid, said: “It’s easy to forget the huge challenges that many disadvantaged young people face on a daily basis, but thanks in part to the success of Party Near The Park, LandAid will be able to commit a further £1million this year to projects that give disadvantaged young people the skills, opportunities and support to achieve their potential.” ENDS For more information and photographs, please contact Steven Hilton or Patrick Baxter at Redwood Consulting on 020 7828 5553.
