On Monday 11 October, the Department for Communities and Local Government Minister Bob Neill lead a public vs private sector tug of war that took place to raise awareness of LandAid Day – the first ever property sector-wide fundraising event on 15 October.

The Private sector won 2-1 in fiercely fought competition. Bob Neil the Minister took the the strain but remained standing!

The event organised to promote LandAid Day and is to encourage all those working in the sector to help raise over £100,000 to transform the lives of young and disadvantaged people.

The heavyweight line-up featured:

Public sector team

·         Bob Neill, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG)

·         Richard McCarthy, director general, programmes, policy & innovation, CLG

·         Richard Blakeway, mayoral advisor for housing, Greater London Authority

·         Ros Dunn, chief executive, Thames Gateway London Partnership

·         Peter Andrews, chief executive, London Thames Gateway Development Corporation

Private sector team

·         Robin Broadhurst, CVO CBE, trustee of the Grosvenor Trusts, chairman of Grainger plc and LandAid chair

·         Liz Peace, CBE, chief executive, British Property Federation and LandAid trustee

·         Robert Evans, director, Argent Group plc

·         Tim Roberts, head of offices, British Land and LandAid trustee

·         Andrew Hynard, chairman - english business , Jones Lang LaSalle

Rob Bould, director, Chief Executive, GVA Grimley umpired the event.

Jon Siddall, chief executive, LandAid said: “This amazing surge of top-level support for LandAid Day shows the enthusiasm within the industry to help others that are worse off.  This first ever LandAid Day is shaping up to be a day to remember and I predict that 15 October becomes one of the most important dates in the property industry’s fundraising calendar.”
