Property Industry squeezes into spandex for LandAid Fun Run | Print |  E-mail
Gerald_Eve_Warming_UpProperty professionals from all over London dusted off their high tops, shell suits and headbands as LandAid’s annual Fun Run returned to Battersea Park – in ‘80s style!

Celebrating its 25th birthday this year, LandAid, the property industry charity, encouraged runners to come dressed as they would have at the charity’s first ever Fun Run in 1986 – with a magnum of champagne going to the wackiest costume.

The event was sponsored by GVA and open to teams and individuals. 550 participants completed the 5km course from organisations such as GVA, British Land and Great Portland Estates who were then treated to an after-party.

The Fastest Male was Jeff Pyrah (Scott Brownrigg) who completed the course in 16:25 minutes, followed by Sylvain Garde (CLS) and Jonathan Rae (British Land). The Fastest Female was Anna Foreman-Peck (DTZ) who completed the course in 19:49 minutes followed by Jennifer Whybrow (Derwent London) and Rosie Donaldson (CLS). Cushman & Wakefield swept the board however taking home the Surveyors, Male Team and Foundation Partner Trophies.

The run has raised at least £40,000 that will fund a new LandAid ‘Foundations for Life’ training and learning centre within a flagship Centrepoint hostel for homeless young people in Sunderland. The educational facilities will give the young people who have poor literacy and numeracy skills the support and confidence they need to go on and live independently.

The new LandAid Foundations For Life centre is part of the £1million LandAid has committed to investing in projects in 2011/12 where disadvantaged young people can access the facilities support and opportunities to reach their potential.

Rob Bould, LandAid Trustee and Chief Executive of GVA, said: “The Fun Run is a great occasion for the property sector to get together and have a bit of fun. The money raised will enable LandAid to further its work with disadvantaged young people, providing opportunities and facilities which, in these challenging times more than ever, will make a real difference to their lives and future prospects.”
