It's fantastic to see so many fundraisers from across the property sector rallying people to tackle youth homelessness. The money raised from these efforts makes a huge difference to the lives of young people – a recent example being Roots and Shoots’ new environmental learning centre which opened this month. As we round off July, we’d like to look back on some of the fundraising highlights that make LandAid projects like this possible. Read about them here and follow the links to find out how you can join the fight against homelessness.
Thrill-seekers from across the property sector who are keen to play a part in ending youth homelessness have been signing up fast for this year’s TowerAthlon. This month, our trustees also signed up for the challenge, forming their own team – the ‘Trustee Tower Rangers’. After much dispute over who would be the 'red tower ranger', our trustees have now banded together with the impressive aim of raising £15K!
Property sector cycling fanatics will be taking on Ride London’s 100-mile cycling marathon this weekend. Ian Cartwright from Great Portland Estates, Jose Santana and Tim Shaw from Carter Jonas, Toby Wait from Tower Eight, Dan Innes from Inesco, and one of our trustees, Tim Roberts, and his son will all be cycling on behalf of LandAid and have raised over £17K so far!
Football fever has hit the property sector, with a range of footie-themed fundraising ideas taking place. Ip-Xchange held a charity football competition which pitted teams from the company against their local U15 side, while Blayze Group are busy getting ready for their Property Industry 5-a-side tournament. Bilfinger GVA announced this month that their Fantasy Football League is back, where contestants can win cash prizes, champagne, and raise money for LandAid at the same time.
Sweett Group showed speed, stamina and sheer determination to beat youth homelessness by taking on two challenges in a month. 45 employees took part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, which involved 40Km of hiking in 12 hours! Others took part in the Leeds 10K, aiming to smash previous times or attempting a 10K for the first time.
Property Race Day also took place this month at the world-renowned Ascot Racecourse, which gave some property professionals the chance to try their hand at jockeying by riding over Ascot's famous straight mile. The event also included their live and silent auction for charities including LandAid - in the past, this has raised over £70K for us.
Finally, to prepare for our biggest fundraising event of the year, LandAid Day, we hosted our LandAid Day workshop this month to give the property sector fundraising inspiration and announce this year's theme - the future! The fundraising ideas were flowing, with some of our favourite suggestions including a space hopper race and a team challenge to cycle the distance to the moon! Find out how you can join in the fun.
With July wrapped up, we’re looking forward to seeing what fundraising ideas the property sector has next month. Check out our events or contact our team to find out what you can do to get involved.
