Mount Kilimanjaro

Knight Frank meets Kilimanjaro: our fundraising challenge for LandAid

Guest Blogger | 20.06.16

In this month's guest blog, 14 Knight Frank graduates tell LandAid about an upcoming fitness and fundraising adventure to the Roof of Africa.

This summer we'll be putting ourselves to the ultimate fitness test as we attempt to climb the 'Roof of Africa', Mount Kilimanjaro.

At almost 20 times the height of the Shard and higher than both Everest base camps, climbing Kilimanjaro will be no mean feat. It'll be a serious mental and physical challenge for all of us but we've seen the fantastic initiatives LandAid carries out and are extremely proud to support its mission to end youth homelessness in the UK.

The team has been following a rigorous training regime ahead of the climb which has included cardio classes in Hyde Park and the use of altitude masks to prepare us for the lack of oxygen at the top of Kilimanjaro. In three weeks' time we'll be climbing Mount Snowdon - our first official fitness test!

We hope to raise £30,000 for LandAid, Mary's Meals and Cancer Research UK through the challenge. Our fundraising is well-underway - £10,000 has already been raised through doughnut sales, networking events, 5-aside football tournaments and netball leagues.
