“People think homeless people are the ones sitting in the street, drinking all day”, says Will. “But I think most young people who are homeless don’t want to be seen”.
When Will became homeless, he kept out of sight. He didn’t tell his family as he didn’t want to worry them. While his mum thought he was staying with friends, he was actually on the streets.
Luckily, Will found The Clock Tower Sanctuary, a project funded by LandAid in 2012. He was welcomed by volunteers, who gave him food and opportunities to socialise. He took part in life skills workshops which helped him make the tough decisions to get his life back on track.
Will now has his own place and has started his own window cleaning company. He is on his way to living a successful, independent life and says a lot of that is thanks to The Clock Tower Sanctuary.
