A major renovation of an old jute mill occupied by Fairbridge in Dundee will create a bigger and better centre that will give 150 young people who are not in education, training or employment a second chance.

Project: Educational facilities forming part of a new cutting edge Centrepoint Hostel


A new LandAid Foundations for Life centre that will form part of a cutting edge Centrepoint residential service for homeless young people in one of the most deprived areas of the UK. Young people living there will have access to a purpose built IT suite, resource centre and dedicated learning worker who will help them achieve their aspirations and break the cycle of deprivation.

Project: Relocation of The Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children

Amount: £100,000


A grant of £100,000 from LandAid, with funds partly raised by the Property Race Day, is enabling The Association for Research into Stammering in Childhood to relocate the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children to a new flagship centre where they can continue and enhance their work making sure speech difficulties do not stop young people from reaching their potential.

LlamauType: Foundations for Life
Area: Merthyr Tydfil, Wales


Llamau is a homeless charity, delivering services to socially excluded homeless and potentially homeless young people and vulnerable women in South Wales. With a grant from LandAid Llamau will be able to refurbish a Grade II listed building in Merthyr Tydfil, an area of significant economic deprivation and the second highest level of unemployment in Wales, to provide a training centre with supported accommodation and an internet cafe that will be run by the homeless young people living there.

KeepOutType: Grant award

Project: Refurbishment of training room
Amount: £15,000


KeepOut is an innovative crime diversion scheme that educates young people about the harsh realities of going to prison. Their weekly programme of one-day workshops delivered by serving prisoners is targeted at young people who are either in the criminal justice system or at risk of entering it. A grant from LandAid will enable KeepOut to refurbish and extend their training room inside the grounds of HMP Coldingley so that they can work with 1,000 young people a year.

KeyhouseType: Grant award

Project: New training kitchen where homeless people can cook nutritious meals
Amount: £10,000


Keyhouse are a local charity providing housing, advice and training in and around Bradford. A new training kitchen for healthy eating project ‘Grow, Cook, Eat’ where homeless people living in supported accommodation will learn how to prepare and cook healthy meals using produce they have grown themselves. Currently the majority of residents (who include care leavers and the victims of domestic violence) cannot afford to buy fresh food and rely on ready meals.
