The Booth Centre is a drop-in and advice centre for homeless people based in Manchester Cathedral.  They provide a full activity programme that includes working in the garden and allotment, painting, making pottery and walking.  The activities help tackle boredom and loneliness and increase self esteem and confidence.

The Booth Centre has received a grant from LandAid for £5,124 to pilot three new work based training projects.  These will help homeless people gain new skills and experience that will enable them to enter employment or go on to further education or training.  Following the courses all participants will receive individual help to apply for jobs with the help of the Move-on Project Worker.  The projects include a conservation work experience course running over three months to improve a local park and an accredited course in First Aid and Health and Safety at work.
