LandAid is funding CHAC’s long running rent deposit scheme that helps people threatened with homelessness to access private rented accommodation. The cost of providing a deposit and a month's rent in advance is over £1000 and unaffordable for people on housing benefit. The money in the scheme is recycled but demand for deposits has more than doubled between 2007-08 and 2008-09. LandAid’s grant will prevent more people from becoming homeless.
