St Mungo's have recently expanded their WoodWorkshop and can now cater for twice as many clients. The Workshop offers training and occupational opportunities for homeless people. They manufacture a range of simple wooden goods and these products are then sold to generate income for the project.
Many of the people at the workshop have not completed their education and have had problems with drugs/alcohol misuse, their mental health and crime. At the workshop they learn general skills that are vital to entering full time employment as well as specific skills such as designing, making and marketing the furniture.
With the expanded floor space came the need for additional machines and value adding items to increase the productivity and quality of product. LandAid's donation of £8,000 went towards a spray room to increase the finishing quality and provide a further skills option for engaged clients.
