Volunteering is a great way of team building as well as showing your company’s commitment to corporate responsibility. It’s good for your employees, business and LandAid too! We’ve launched a pilot corporate volunteering programme for 2010 in partnership with Centrepoint. The one-day activities take place at Centrepoint sites that have benefited from LandAid funding. Bruce House and Camberwell Foyer both have LandAid Foundations for Life centres with IT suites, learning rooms and teaching kitchens where homeless young people are learning the skills they need to live independent lives. Availability We have a have a limited number of volunteering days during this pilot programme and can currently only offer places to our Foundation Partners on a first come and first serve basis. However if you are not a LandAid Foundation Partner you can still register your interest for future volunteering days when we have more availability. Programme
Cost Volunteering days cost £1000 per company. This covers the cost of the materials and the remainder contributes directly to LandAid’s Foundations for Life programme so that even more disadvantaged young people will benefit from having access to the facilities they need to achieve their potential. CASE STUDY – PRUPIM at Bruce House
A group of employees from real estate investment managers PRUPIM were LandAid’s first ever corporate volunteers and took part in a day’s painting and decorating at Bruce House, a young people’s hostel run by Centrepoint. PRUPIM approached us when their Fund and Investment Management team decided they wanted to do something more charitable for their teambuilding away day. The day was extremely productive, all the volunteers worked hard and completely transformed three young people’s bedrooms and living areas. Outcomes ‘It was good to think that our work was for a really good cause and would be appreciated by people less fortunate than ourselves.’ PRUPIM volunteer ‘A highly worthwhile event which went according to plan and is well worth repeating.’ PRUPIM volunteer ‘It was an absolute pleasure having the PRUPIM team help with this project. The young people that had their flats painted were very appreciative and the staff were extremely impressed with the end result and have already asked about the next time they can have a similar project happen.’ Centrepoint Volunteering Officer |
