Volunteering at Bruce HouseLandAid offers volunteering days to Foundation Partners in collaboration with our charity partners Centrepoint and Llamau.

Volunteering is a great way of team building as well as showing your company’s commitment to corporate responsibility. It’s good for your employees, business and LandAid too!

Some of the activities do incur a charge but this is to cover the cost of materials and any excess is donated to the project.

Activities
Painting/Gardening Days (10.00am-4.30pm)
Volunteers will have a day to transform an area such as a young person’s flat within a hostel or an allotment area where the young people grow vegetables to use in their healthy eating courses. The cost covers the paint and materials provided and a donation to the hostel. Please let us know if you would like us to provide lunch. Up to 12 people can take part including clients and employees as part of a team building exercise.

The Charities
Centrepoint - Leading youth homelessness charity that provides accommodation for over 800 homeless young people on a daily basis. Many of whom have slept rough, been in care or suffered from abuse. LandAid through its ‘Foundations for Life’ funding has refurbished six Centrepoint hostels (including Bruce House) with IT suites, learning rooms and teaching kitchens where the homeless young people are learning the skills they need to live independent lives.

Llamau
– Wales's leading youth homelessness charity providing accommodation and support services. LandAid has recently funded the renovation of a disused shop in Merthyr Tydfil  to create move on accommodation and a training centre where young people can learn the skills they need to live independently and gain qualifications.

CASE STUDY – PRUPIM at Bruce House

PRUPIM photos

A group of employees from real estate investment managers PRUPIM were LandAid’s first ever corporate volunteers and took part in a day’s painting and decorating at Bruce House, a young people’s hostel run by Centrepoint.

PRUPIM approached us when their Fund and Investment Management team decided they wanted to do something more charitable for their teambuilding away day.

The day was extremely productive, all the volunteers worked hard and completely transformed three young people’s bedrooms and living areas.

Outcomes
‘My feedback is positive in all respects. I thought it was an excellent idea and much better than previous away days which don’t always achieve anything tangible.’ PRUPIM volunteer

‘It was good to think that our work was for a really good cause and would be appreciated by people less fortunate than ourselves.’ PRUPIM volunteer

‘A highly worthwhile event which went according to plan and is well worth repeating.’ PRUPIM volunteer

‘It was an absolute pleasure having the PRUPIM team help with this project. The young people that had their flats painted were very appreciative and the staff were extremely impressed with the end result and have already asked about the next time they can have a similar project happen.’ Centrepoint Volunteering Officer
