Due to COVID-19, young people are no longer able to have one-to-one sessions, drop-in sessions, or social group activities. A few young people the charity supports have either been furloughed or made redundant. Many are suffering already due to limited family contact, resulting in are suffering from social isolation and loneliness.
LandAid’s £6,875 grant will support young people at Barnardo’s 16+ service. This grant will provide food vouchers for 8 weeks, tablet and data packages, face to face sessions with a trusted Key Worker and access to Universal Credit and Housing Benefit systems.
Barnardo’s Scotland supports any care leavers (aged 16-25) who are homeless in Edinburgh. Barnardo’s Scotland is currently working with 60 young people. Each young person is allocated a dedicated Barnardo’s Project Worker who gives them individual practical and emotional support based on their specific needs.
