Canopy Housing Project has experienced people coming to them for food and basic necessities. Due to COVID-19, many of their tenants have lost their jobs. Some of its beneficiaries suffer from mental health issues, and being told to isolate has only exacerbated these problems.
LandAid’s £5,200 grant will establish an emergency funding pot to deliver the essentials, such as food, money for bills and personal toiletries for six months. Canopy has found that providing smaller money or materials immediately has prevented these issues from escalating.
Canopy renovates empty and derelict houses that have been standing empty for years, and transforms them into homes through the hard work and commitment of its volunteers and tenants.
