LandAid supports innovative projects which engage with disadvantaged young people through sports. Circle Sports helps young people not in employment, education or training (NEETs) in the boroughs of Hackney and Westminster to obtain work through its 10 week training and work experience programme.
Circle Sports trains 50 young people per year in their Westminster sports shop. They are currently establishing a second sports shop in Dalston, Hackney, which will double the number of young people attending courses. Participants gain valuable skills to aid them in their search for work and have the opportunity to put their newly acquired customer service, business management and marketing skills into action by undertaking work experience at Circle Sports' shops and market stalls. Around half go on to find permanent employment, with another 36 still in employment three months later.
A LandAid grant of £20,000 made in 2012 part-funded the salary of a full time administrator to co-ordinate a ten week training programme for jobseekers in Westminster, and to manage the course expansion into Hackney. In 2014, LandAid Foundation Partner the Redevco Foundation donated £10,000 to support expansion of training programme and the fit out of the second social enterprise shop in Hackney.

Charity visits are a great way for LandAid supporters to see first hand the fantastic work our charity partners do, and the lasting impact their generosity can have. Visits normally take 1-2 hours and usually take place at lunchtime, often with lunch provided. The visits are completely free to attend.
