LandAid Summer Run 2013

Tuesday, June 18, 2013 - 18:00 Regent's Park, London

Clammy conditions at the start gave way to sunshine at the finish for the LandAid Summer Run on Tuesday evening. GVA sponsored the Summer Run at the Hub, a new venue in Regent's Park with new routes for the 5km and 10km events.

The racing was good. Tim Greenland finished the 5k in a blistering 18 minutes and 52 seconds, with Holly Grundon the first female over the line with 19:49. Marc Leyshon completed the 10k in 34:22, with Susan Anton completing the course in 42:41. Conditions were great for good times, with lots of talk of personal bests.

490 people took part from 89 organisations, with GVA having the largest team of 44 runners. Most teams turned out in stylishly coordinated company colours. Regular runners finished in a bit of a sweat, those pushing their limits staggered over the line, red-flushed faces, as the threat of rain subsided for a fine evening. It is, after all, the LandAid Summer Run.

Welcoming people to Regent's Park, Rob Bould, GVA Chief Executive, said "It's great to see so many of you here at the new venue." Awarding the trophies after the race, having competed in the 5km alongside his daughter, Rob said, "It’s been a great occasion. It's good to get the running bit over and to see so many people and teams out here being active while raising funds for LandAid."

LandAid Chief Executive Joanna Averley said, "It's been a wonderful occasion. The weather was looking wobbly at times, but the sun shone through just like the incredible support from everyone in the property industry taking part. There was some great racing.” Speaking more generally about the event, Joanna added, “It’s great to have the on-going support of GVA for this event, and thank you to our trophy sponsors.”

Thank you to everyone who took part, raising funds or coming to enjoy the evening with drinks from the Hub bar. And thank you to the team at the Hub in Regent's Park for hosting such a great event.

The event raised a phenomenal £51,000. All funds raised will support LandAid Charity Projects that work to improve the lives of children and young people in the UK experiencing disadvantage due to their economic or social circumstances.
