SleepOut for LandAid House

Sponsored by Hammerson and Knight Frank

Thursday, March 1, 2018 - 20:00 Old Spitalfields Market, 6 Horner Square, London E1 6EW London

Despite the adverse weather conditions, SleepOut for LandAid House is still going ahead as planned. Please continue to check our website for further updates.

If you are not taking part tonight but would like to make a donation, please click here.

Please ensure you read the SleepOut Registration Pack before you come tonight.

To reassure you, we have carried out a full, comprehensive risk assessment and have put the following control measures in place:

  • Ensure you bring everything on the essential kit list.  This can be found in our Registration Pack.  Please be aware participants who arrive without the essential kit will be refused entry.
  • Please make sure you bring lots of warm clothing including thermal under-layers
  • The SleepOut site is under cover
  • There will be a paramedic on shift throughout the night
  • The overhead heaters in Old Spitalfields Market will be left on overnight and this will provide additional warmth to participants.
  • LandAid volunteers will be on hand throughout the night should you feel too cold or have any problems
  • If you have a pre-existing medical condition that may put you at risk then we ask that you let us know ASAP.  Please note – participants we deem to be at risk may be asked not to take part.
  • Hot drinks will be available all night
  • Every participant will receive survival kits, which contain Mountain Warehouse survival bags (foil blankets) and woolly hats, thanks to CBRE.
  • Every participant will also receive two cardboard boxes to sleep on
  • Although the site is locked, you will be able to check out and leave during the night should you feel too cold at any point (please just inform a member of staff if this is the case).

Given the harsh conditions, please make sure you bring lots of extra warm kit and anything you feel you need to stay warm:

  • Four season sleeping bag
  • Sleeping bag liner
  • Roll mat or thermarest
  • Hot water bottle (hot water supply for hot drinks will be prioritised so please fill these prior to arrival)
  • Hand / foot warmers
  • Extra socks
  • Make sure you wear lots of layers and thermal under-layers

Whilst we will not be postponing the event, we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight that there is no obligation to take part and we fully respect your decision should you choose to withdraw from the event. However, we ask that you do let LandAid know ASAP.

Please let us know if you have any further queries at all.

The SleepOut for LandAid House is now fully booked. To join the waiting list, please email Stephanie Still.

Entry fee: £30

Minimum sponsorship: £150

Why are we asking you to raise £150? By raising £150 you will take us one step closer to meeting our target to raise £75,000 from our first LandAid SleepOut in London to provide three bedrooms in a shared flat at LandAid House. Our LandAid House Appeal aims to raise £1.5m to rebuild and remodel the former City YMCA hostel near Old Street. By taking part in the SleepOut for LandAid House you will be helping us to give young people in London the future they deserve.

“I am proud to be representing Hammerson as co-sponsor of the Sleep Out for Landaid House. The work of the charity is remarkable and I hope that by doing our bit,  the Hammerson team of Rebecca, Richard and I can help to draw attention to the desperate challenges faced by young homeless people in London, whilst raising money for this much needed project." - Mark Bourgeois, Managing Director UK & Ireland, Hammerson

“Knight Frank are delighted to be joint sponsors of LandAid’s first SleepOut.  Whilst focusing upon raising the plight of the young and homeless, the objective is to raise as much money as possible for one of LandAid’s key projects LandAid House.  Hopefully the funds raised will exceed expectations and the event will become a regular occurrence in the LandAid Diary.” - Alistair Elliott, Senior Partner & Group Chairman, Knight Frank
