COVID-19 has had an immediate and detrimental effect on their service users. A majority of their residents are in receipt of universal credit or disability benefits, and are reliant on food banks and donations. They have also struggled with poor mental health, such as anxiety, depression and stress, and this has only increased due to lockdown measures. Look Ahead has seen a significant increase in challenging behaviours and incidents in services since the start of lockdown.
LandAid’s £10,000 grant will cover the cost of food, PPE and other essential items for their young people. Look Ahead’s mission is that no young person will go hungry during this crisis.
Look Ahead is a specialist charitable housing association, established in 1973 to provide assistance, support and care services for vulnerable children, young people and adults. Today it supports approximately 7,000 vulnerable individuals (of which 1,000 are young people) across close to 120 services.
