Last year, 780 property professionals put on their running shoes for the LandAid QuaranTEN, and raised over £100,00 to end youth homelessness.
This year, LandAid are hoping to do the same to support young and homeless from up and down the country in a virtual 10k run.
Many of us have struggled with the fatigue of lockdown and virtual events. But, at LandAid we have seen the property industry unite through all our virtual events over the last for a common cause; to end youth homelessness.
Helical, The Jaspar Foundation and SEGRO have kindly shared their top tips on how to bring people together during virtual events, however big the physical distance actually is.
Thank you to Lois Robertson at Helical, The Jaspar Foundation, and Tom Newton, Annabel Freeman, Jo Wilkinson and Guy Heilpern at SEGRO for taking the time to speak to LandAid.
Why have you chosen to take part in the LandAid 10K?
“A 10K event is a great way of getting everyone together, supporting a great cause and getting fit in the process. I have started a Wednesday evening after work training schedule, which has proved to be enjoyable and fostered great team spirit. Jaspar Foundation will make a donation to Landaid, on behalf of everyone at Jaspar Group, for their efforts in the 10K event. Team members are also encouraging friends and family to sponsor the Jaspar Team through the online link to raise more funds.” The Jaspar Foundation
“It’s a landmark event in the calendar and a great way to do something as a team while supporting LandAid’s fantastic work. It is also fun to have a little healthy competition for those with an appetite!” Helical
The theme this year is ’10K, Your Way’ - how will you be taking part ‘Your Way’ and adapting the event to suit your team?
“We’re planning on hosting “Meet ups” on the June 10 in the locations of the three of our UK offices (Thames Valley, Rugby, London) so those who want to meet up and run together in the usual way can do so. We’re also promoting that it’s easier than ever to take part this year as you can get involved at home, running, jogging or walking your favourite lockdown route with your dog and family members.” SEGRO
“24 of Helical’s 28 staff members are participating in one of three ways: some are running the full 10K (four laps of Battersea Park); some are running in relay (two laps each) and others are walking 10K – they are setting off before the runners, walking to Battersea Park and then ending with one lap of the park so everyone will finish at roughly the same time. Afterwards we are having celebratory drink!.” Helical
What’s your plan for taking part in the LandAid 10K as a team on June 10?
“We are a team of 23 people taking part, either walking, waddling, running or plodding through the 10K event! We are doing this as a “Jaspar Team building half day event” with the 10K run/walk in the morning from our office in Stanmore, followed by a company lunch.
"This is our way of completing the virtual event and enjoying it. The benefit of participating together means a higher team morale and the good feeling of doing something selfless for those less fortunate than ourselves. At the end of the day, the mission is to complete the walk/run, have lots of fun and laughs and raise funds for LandAid.” The Jaspar Foundation
