About the Organisation
The Anah Project provides safe refuge accommodation and crisis support for women and young girls 16 years and over, who are fleeing domestic abuse and violence, forced marriage, so-called honour-based violence and female Genital mutilation including those from Black and Minoritised communities.
In Bradford, estimates show that 6.1% of adults aged 16 to 59 years experienced domestic abuse in the year ending March 2020 and 2.2% of adults had experienced sexual assault (including attempted offences) Bradford District is an ethnically diverse area with one in four people living in the District describing themselves as Asian / Asian British ethnic origin, compared to under 1 in 10 people on average for England as a whole.
We support and accommodate women and girls who experience homelessness as a result of abuse and who experience abuse due to their sexuality. As an established service, with 30 years of expertise in supporting vulnerable women and girls our values include:
- Commitment to helping women and girls achieve autonomy, without cultural, religious and societal constraints.
- Experience and knowledge of the emotional and practical difficulties vulnerable women and girls face including homelessness and complex needs.
- An empathetic and holistic approach to supporting women escaping/experiencing domestic violence and abuse.
- Be the voice for disadvantaged and marginalised groups.

The Anah Project have recently purchased a 5 bedroomed property that will act as a further hostel providing a further 4 bedspaces for women and girls.
They are currently in the process of converting one of the bedrooms into a shower room as there are no washing facilities on the second floor. They have received a quote of £6,000 to convert the space into a shower facility. However, this is an unanticipated cost that will take funding away from their front-line services.
The Anah Project would therefore welcome any offers of support with installation, decorating and/or materials to support the installation of the shower area.
