About the Organisation
Keynsham & District Mencap Society for People with Learning Disabilities
Keynsham & District Mencap work to improve the lives and opportunities of children and adults with a wide range of learning disabilities. They primarily welcome members from BANES, Bristol, and South Gloucestershire, with some from further afield. They have a membership of over 170.
The charity offers a variety of social and leisure opportunities for children and adults.
Members ages range from 5 – 18 years for junior clubs, and we run adult clubs for 18 years and over. The members have a broad range of needs and disabilities, including learning and physical disabilities, Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Attention Deficit Disorder.

They currently run all their services out of rented halls and offices, and are thus seeking a more permanent space, moving forward. One that is ideally owned, but rented would also be considered. They wish to be able to amplify their impact by having a community hub with cafe, and a place to signpost services to our 170 members who face challenges in many areas.
With nearly £100k funds raised thus far, and trusts willing to fund the refit costs, Keynsham & District Mencap Society are seeking pro bono support to help them source a suitable property, and then to potentially manage the project development to fruition.
Aspirations for their new space would be that it is nearby to their current office at BS31 1HG, that it is accessible to wheelchair users, potentially has a stage, offices and a hall to hold events in, as well as an outside space.
