About the Organisation
Barnardo’s are the largest national children’s charity in the UK. In 2022-23 we reached 373,200 people and ran 811 services and partnerships across the UK. We have been in operation for over 150 years and our aim is to be here for children and young people who need us most to be safe, happy, healthy and hopeful through changing childhoods and changing lives.
2022-23 was an extremely challenging period for many children, young people, parents and carers in the UK. Sharp increases in the cost of living, hard on the heels of the Covid-19 pandemic, drove many families into further difficulty. Barnardo’s was on the front line of dealing with the fall-out, supporting children and young people struggling with anxiety and mental health issues, as well as increased pressure on family finances.

The organisation currently has an office building in the Holloway Road area of London (Chillingworth Rd) which isn’t extensively used at present. It comprises c. 2,300 sq ft over the ground and two upper floors. It is also owned freehold.
The charity wish to look at refurbishing the space, to provide a collaboration hub, from which to run their vital services to vulnerable children and families.
The charity would benefit from some pro bono support in the following areas:
- Project Scoping: Advice on how to plan the new space/ feasibility study.
- Architectural designs of the new space.
- Legal: Planning support with the existing Planning Permission and requirement for a Certificate of Lawful Use.
