With self-isolation and social distancing in place, the isolation of many young LGBTQ+ people who are at risk of homelessness has increased and many have found themselves forced to stay in a hostile environment longer than they would have done otherwise. This situation is creating more referrals for help, which The Albert Kennedy Trust predict will continue for at least three months.
LandAid's £5,000 grant will provide a £1,000 grant for AKT's service areas in London, Newcastle, Manchester and Bristol, and a £2,000 grant for their London team who are seeing more of a demand. This will include food, vouchers, essentials. mobile phone credit and emergency accommodation.
