DHI have supported people over 16 years old for 17 years, helping individuals and families out of the cycle of homelessness, social isolation and substance abuse in the South West.
In 2016/17 LandAid issued a £100,000 grant for DHI's 'Shared Lives: Youth Homelessness Empty Homes Scheme' project in Bristol. Following subsequent conversations, it was agreed that this amount would be split between a project in Newton Road and the East Street Mews project.
A £58,000 grant was put towards DHI's East Street Mews project. This is a ground-breaking initiative that will create 11 contemporary apartments to provide much-needed affordable housing for those who are young and homeless in Bristol.
Furthermore, the project in Newton Road was allocated £42,000 towards the renovation of a Victorian two-bedroom mid-terrace property. This accomodation will provide a family home for those who are young and homeless who have children, or a shared home for young people and will house between 2 and 4 young people.
