As a result of COVID-19, many of the young people GIPSIL support have been left isolated. Their vulnerable people need people acquiring the essentials, such as food, sanitary and hygiene products. GIPSIL predict they will have to deal with issues as a result of isolation for the next three months.
LandAid’s £10,000 grant will ensure the young people GIPSIL support will remain connected by providing the most appropriate resources for them, such as mobile phones and tablets. This will also provide between 200-400 emergency packs of food, sanitary and hygiene products.
GIPSIL is a community-led organisation established in 1993 in response to the difficulties facing young people in the surrounding communities in East Leeds. GIPSIL primarily works with vulnerable young people providing housing-related support, counselling, welfare advice and support to access and sustain employment, education and training.
