As part of LandAid’s ambition to increase awareness of the projects we support in cities outside of the capital, LandAid CEO Paul Morrish and Events & Fundraising Officer Robyn Phillips met with representatives from seven partner companies yesterday to show them around a project LandAid supports in Manchester.
42nd Street provides counselling and therapeutic services for young people with mental health problems. With a grant of £100,000 from LandAid and the Redevco Foundation, 42nd Street is converting a 3-storey shop into a new facility for young people in order to respond to an unprecedented increase in demand for its services.
With mental health issues increasingly prevalent among young people who are homeless, 42nd Street’s early intervention techniques play a crucial role in preventing local young people from falling into that cycle.
Douglas West from Redevco commented that LandAid shows how the power of the property industry can make a positive difference by helping and supporting people where the state cannot/will not.’ After hearing from two young people whose lives have been changed by the project, he said he would recommend anyone to go on a charity visit.’
Laura Padgett of Blayze Group said, What a great event organised by LandAid yesterday, visiting 42nd Street, an inspirational local charity doing such great work in the community for young vulnerable people. It was great to see some big names in the property market coming together to make sure projects like this happen.’
