GIPSIL

Many young people who face a severe risk of becoming homeless need a structured environment with 24 hour support to survive. GIPSIL aim to meet this need with their new initiative, ‘Project Front Door’, which will renovate and convert 20 empty cottage flats into a core building and a cluster of one bed flats nearby.

LandAid and M&G Real Estate are part funding the building work to create accommodation that gives secure and around-the-clock support to young people at severe risk of homelessness.

We also arranged for GIPSIL to receive free planning advice from Bilfinger GVA on how to turn commercial and community buildings into accommodation for young people who are homeless.

The impact

18 young people will be able to live in their own self-contained flat, socialise in communal spaces and receive 24 hour support.

The young people that receive support from GIPSIL will also be given the opportunity to volunteer on the construction site and help with property maintenance, gaining valuable skills to prepare them for employment.
