Last year we started a new Ambassador of the Month campaign, to further recognise the amazing work our Ambassadors are doing.
Each month we’ll select one Ambassador to speak to, asking them about their time at LandAid and highlighting something exceptional they’ve done.
Our past Ambassadors of the month have been: Anna Stewart from BNPPRE, Alexander Barnes and Joseph Round from Gerald Eve LLP, Kitty Kent from PwC, Sophie Walker from Gerald Eve LLP, Emma Murray from Palmer Capital, Laura Da Silva from Malcolm Hollis, Sarah Gunn from TFT Consultants, India Storey from Logicor UK and Bryony Jones and Jake Craig from Gerald Eve LLP.
We’re really pleased to announce our tenth Ambassador of the Month as Owen Dutton from Eversheds Sutherland! We selected Owen in part for his amazing effort in cycling 100 miles in the Birmingham Velo, raising funds for LandAid, for running in the biggest-ever LandAid 10K and for his general fantastic work shouting about our mission to end youth homelessness.
We asked him some questions about his time as LandAid Ambassadors so far. Check out his answers below.
Why did you get involved in the LandAid Ambassador programme?
Like all other major cities in the UK, Birmingham is trying to find a way to tackle rising levels of homelessness.
With so many good things happening in the city at the moment, including preparations for the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and the widespread redevelopment of the city centre spurred on by HS2, it is incredibly important that the benefits are felt by everyone and we don’t forget to ensure that everyone has a place to call home.
I’d been incredibly impressed by the work that LandAid does to end youth homelessness through a number of projects in the city and wanted to get involved.
What was your experience of the Velo 100 like?
It was a great experience getting to cycle through 100 miles of closed roads through some fantastic scenery as part of a group of 17,000 riders! I’d definitely recommend it! The toughest part of the Velo was the last 20 miles, which were all uphill!
Why would you say other people should become LandAid Ambassadors?
It is a fantastic opportunity to work with the great LandAid team to help tackle the urgent problem of youth homelessness. This really is an opportunity to make a difference.
