Computers 4 Charity shortlisted as a Digital Leaders 100 Award Finalist

Digital Leaders have announced this year’s Digital Leaders 100 finalists and we are delighted to share the news that Computers 4 Charity have been shortlisted in the Greentech Innovation of the year category.

LandAid has been in partnership with Computers 4 Charity over the last year and has seen the positive difference that can be made when charities supporting young people facing homelessness are provided with computers. We have seen how computer access gives young people the tools to stay connected and achieve a more stable future through applying for jobs and benefits, and completing training.

All whilst being a fully sustainable operation.

This award is for a product, service or initiative which helps to reduce CO2 omissions or pollution, minimise waste, or protect ecosystems and is a new category for 2022 signalling the growing importance of Greentech.

Computers 4 Charity data wipe, refurbish and give-away free-of-charge for re-use as much as possible to other charities, recycle as few as possible and waste none reducing carbon dioxide output.

They also rebuild and upgrade PCs to double their working lives from five years to ten, and laptops from three to six years.

They operate a 0% to landfill policy and each usable device given a 2nd life through upgrade means a new one does not have to be manufactured and over 80% of a computer’s carbon footprint is in its production; every upgraded laptop saving the planet from 150kg of CO2 emissions and each desktop 250kg of CO2.

We would really welcome your support by voting for Computers 4 Charity in DL100 People’s Choice Award here.

The ultimate winner will be announced at The Digital Leaders 100 awards ceremony in June.
