Help end youth homelessness: our call to action

Today, 1 April 2016, marks the beginning of LandAid’s new mission to end youth homelessness.

Homelessness in the UK is soaring. In the five years since 2010 we’ve seen a 42% increase in levels of homelessness, with the number of families forced to live in emergency accommodation rising by over 100%. The statistics are appalling.

Young people are now the most likely group to be living in poverty. They have been adversely affected by changes to the welfare system, affordable housing is becoming increasingly difficult to access, and there have been devastating cuts to youth services in the past five years. Today, around 100,000 young people find themselves homeless.

That’s why for the next ten years, LandAid is committing to bring together remarkable businesses and individuals from across the property industry to support projects that deliver life-changing services to young people facing homelessness.

We will help to protect young people on the streets, provide accommodation and training and tackle the root causes of homelessness.

But in order to succeed, we need your support.

Next week, we’ll be asking all 120 of our corporate partners to sign an open letter signalling their commitment to helping end youth homelessness through LandAid.

In the last few months, we’ve already welcomed six new Foundation Partners to LandAid. A big thank you to Almacantar, BNP Paribas, Burges Salmon, Colliers, Lambert Smith Hampton and Mansford for joining our campaign.

If you’re not already part of our network, now’s the time to get involved.

Join us and help end youth homelessness for good.
