Press release: LandAid’s Grenfell Tower appeal raises over £250,000

LandAid’s urgent two-week appeal to help those affected by the West London fire at Grenfell Tower has now come to a close. Over the last two weeks the property industry has responded to our Grenfell Tower appeal by pledging over £250,000, all of which will now go directly to the British Red Cross’ London Fire Relief Fund.

We called on you, our network of supporters, in the property industry on Monday 19 June, asking businesses to pledge money to help those affected. The response has been outstanding. Companies including Knight Frank, LandSec, Grosvenor, SEGRO and British Land are just a few from the property industry who donated. Many companies also offered much needed accommodation for victims left homeless.

Paul Morrish, our CEO commented: ‘The response from the property industry over the last two weeks has been overwhelming – thank you to all the businesses who donated. The money raised will go directly to the British Red Cross’ London Fire Relief Fund, supporting those who have been left injured, bereaved or homeless by this disaster.’

The British Red Cross is working in partnership with the London Emergencies Trust, who will distribute the funds to those in need.

Mark Astarita , Director of Fundraising at the British Red Cross says: ‘The British Red Cross would like to thank LandAid’s Foundation Partners and supporters for their generous contributions to the London Fire Relief Fund in support of those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. We know no amount of money can take away the pain of this tragedy but we hope that it will help towards removing any financial barriers families could face when trying to access support and rebuilding their lives.’

The LandAid Grenfell Tower appeal was supported by RICS, the BPF, Revo, CPA, WPA and the HBF. All money raised will be donated to the British Red Cross and we return to our mission of working towards ending youth homelessness.
