Press release: Property industry raises over £170,000 to help those affected in the Grenfell Tower tragedy

The property industry has responded to LandAid’s urgent two-week appeal to help those affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy and by this morning, had pledged over £170,000 to go directly to the British Red Cross’s London Fire Relief Fund.

LandAid, the property industry’s charity, called on their network of supporters in the property industry on Monday 19 June, asking businesses to pledge money to help those affected. And the response has been outstanding. Companies including Knight Frank, LandSec, Grosvenor, SEGRO and British Land are just a few who have stepped forward. Many companies have also offered much-needed suitable accommodation for victims left without homes.

Paul Morrish, CEO of LandAid says: ‘I would like to say a big thank you to all the businesses across the industry who have donated to help those affected by the fire. The tragedy that happened last week hit us all hard, and I have been proud of the response of the local and wider community but also of how many businesses have responded to our appeal. The money raised will go directly to help rebuild the lives and communities of those affected. Of course, this is no quick fix and looking forward, we all need to assess why this happened – and this is particularly poignant in the property industry. Whether in the private, public or third sectors, whether in retail, industrial, commercial or residential, we have to work together to solve the crisis we face housing our people.’

The LandAid Grenfell Tower appeal runs until Friday 30th June and is supported by RICS, the BPF, Revo, CPA, WPA and the HBF. There is still time for businesses to come forward and pledge their support. After this date, all money raised will be donated to the British Red Cross and LandAid will return to its mission of working towards ending youth homelessness.
