High-flyers from the property industry are putting their fitness to the ultimate test in support of disadvantaged young people as they prepare for the property industry’s most adrenaline-fuelled event, the London TowerAthlon.
Our flagship endurance event, run in tandem with the Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors and sponsored by Savills, takes place this Friday 18 September at the Broadgate Tower. Hundreds of property professionals, including Craig McWilliam, Executive Director of the London Estate at Grosvenor Britain & Ireland and Trustee of LandAid, will face one of three daunting challenges: a 539ft abseil, an 877-stair tower run and a 10 minute sprint cycle.
Craig, who is preparing to take on the vertigo-inducing abseil told us: ‘I’m absolutely terrified about having to do this abseil; however, LandAid is a great cause, so it is worth it. The property industry has an obligation to support those in need, especially disadvantaged young people, so I encourage people to give generously.’
Other notable names in property braving the charity challenge include Nigel Bosworth, Managing Director of Chainbow, who is running 877 steps up the skyscraper, and Mark Heighton, Head of Real Estate at CMS Cameron McKenna and Colin Rees-Smith, Director of Healthcare at Savills who are each facing the cycling element of the event.
The London TowerAthlon, now in its second year, aims to raise £60,000 for LandAid and the Chartered Surveyors Training Trust.
