I was struck by two separate but connected facts last week. The first fact was the shocking statistic that well over a third of young people who are homeless are also struggling with a mental health problem. Homeless Link's excellent Young & Homeless 2018 report - jointly funded by LandAid and Comic Relief - highlighted the prevalence of mental health problems among an already very vulnerable group of young people.
LandAid is calling on runners to take on property's toughest 10K. The race, sponsored by St. Modwen, will take place on Friday 14 September in Longbridge, Birmingham. All funds raised will go towards the aim of ending youth homelessness in the Midlands.

LandAid is proud to be one of the founding partners of a ground-breaking initiative in Bristol called East Street Mews. The project, the brainchild of LandAid, Cubex and Developing Health & Independence (DHI), will create vital housing that will transform the lives of young people in Bristol. Realising there was a major gap in provision for young people experiencing homelessness who are not eligible for other forms of support, they came together to donate their time, investment and expertise to address the problem.

My time as an intern at LandAid has been both educational and rewarding in equal measure. While homelessness is an issue which has always been important to me, I did not appreciate how my knowledge of the subject would completely transform after working for the property industry charity. LandAid's first ever SleepOut for LandAid House sponsored by Hammerson and Knight Frank has raised an incredible £269,000 including Gift Aid, every penny of which will go to City YMCA London to rebuild their former Errol Street hostel near Old Street, Islington.
LandAid, the property industry charity, is funding two innovative modular housing projects to provide eight new homes for young people at risk of homelessness in the South-West. They will be the first modular housing projects LandAid has funded.
