1625 Independent People – COVID-19 Emergency Fund

1625 Independent People is a charity that works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless, leaving care or at risk of homelessness in Bristol and the South West. As well as providing safe, stable accommodation, 1625 IP provides practical and emotional support to ensure vulnerable young people can establish healthy, fulfilling independent lives.

Cost of the project

£8,100

Location

Bristol, UK

1625 IP’s young people struggled to buy food during isolation due to a lack of funds. This caused increased health issues, many have struggled to get enough nutrition and were unable to afford personal hygiene items.

LandAid’s £8,100 grant funded mobile phone data for 160 young people.  This funding allowed them to access online platforms for essential needs such as Universal Credit and job applications, as well as COVID-19 advice. This grant also ensured young people were provided with the essentials such as food and toiletries.
