LATCH is a unique charitable organisation that refurbishes derelict and run-down houses in Leeds. Latch provides supported housing through renovating and refurbishing long-term empty properties to 145 people per year, of which 19 are under the age of 25.  LandAid has granted the organisation £55,000. The proposal is part of a strategy to create 35 new homes.

The LandAid grant will go towards the renovation of Two 2-bed Victorian homes. They will be refurbished to a high standard, ensuring they are energy efficient and affordable to heat. The properties will be let fully furnished and equipped to young people aged 25 and below. Each tenant will have a dedicated support worker fostering independent living skills to prepare the young person for the eventual move-on. Latch aims are “the relief of persons in necessitous circumstances who are homeless or in housing need”.
