Latch – COVID-19 Emergency Fund

Latch is an innovative community-based housing organisation that provides supported housing for people who are homeless or in housing crisis. Its service enables people to access high quality housing at a time of crisis and receive support to enable them to have successful tenancies and in time to move on to permanent accommodation.

Cost of the project

£22,053

Location

Chapeltown Road, Leeds LS7 4HP, UK

Due to COVID-19, Latch’s young people were unable to directly access support and training services. All support had to be delivered remotely, either over the phone or via IT. The lack of contact with support workers was a huge loss to the young people Latch supports, and caused anxiety in both young people and staff.

Phase 1

LandAid’s £3,854 funding covered the cost of PPE and other hygiene resources. This enabled support workers to better perform their roles and ensure safety.

Phase 2

This £18,199 phase two grant enabled Latch Ltd to re-model the ground floor meeting and utility spaces to create safe spaces for receiving visitors, and conducting face to face sessions on an office/home rota system. Complimenting this was an update of the IT systems infrastructure to facilitate efficient home working and web-based interaction with tenants and trainees.
