St Basils

St Basils provide a wide range of accommodation for young people who’ve been homeless, supporting them on their journey to independence. Their life skills programmes enable the young people to continue through education and employment, so they can achieve a brighter future.

Cost of the project

£75,000

Location

Birmingham, UK

LandAid’s £75,000 grant will enable St Basils to renovate 24 one-bed flats and 24 studio apartments to upgrade the energy efficiency of the accommodation. The project involves renewing and upgrading the hot water tanks, windows and the fire alarm system.

To prepare the young tenants for independent living, they are charged for utilities such as gas and electricity. The improved energy efficiency of the accommodation will make their cost of living more affordable, helping the young people to manage their finances and incentivising more young people to stay there.
