YMCA Thames Gateway provides a range of supported accommodation to young people who are homeless. Each resident is given a primary and secondary support worker to them develop the skills and confidence to live independently.

LandAid’s £75,000 grant is enabling the charity to deliver a modular construction housing scheme for young people. It will create thirty self-contained one bed flats for young people who are ready to live more independently and to enter employment.

To assist the young people with entering the employment market, the rents at the property will be roughly 65% of market rents and below the housing benefit local housing allowance. The young residents, who will have moved out from a fully supported hostel, can still access the support and facilities available at the hostel. A designated housing worker will support tenants, which includes the offer of include counselling, budget and welfare advice.
