LandAid Day 2015: What’s On

With the biggest fundraising day of the property calendar just ten days away, here’s a run-down of all the fun and frolics that LandAid’s partners have planned.

First up is Helical Bar, whose staff are pedalling the streets of Mayfair dressed as astronauts. Headed up by LandAid President Mike Slade, the fancy-dress enthusiasts are intending to top last year’s eighties-inspired Fame costumes. Also dressing to impress are Redevco UK, Claibon Recruitment, whose staff are each representing a Rugby World Cup team for the day, and Bilfinger GVA, whose employees around the country are going back to school for playground games, maths lessons, tuck shops and of course, detention.

M&G Real Estate, Frogmore, Keegans Group, SEGRO, Gerald Eve, Indigo Planning, Hammerson, CoStar and Carter Jonas are all competing for Star Baker in their respective cake-making competitions. But these are no ordinary Bake Offs. Frogmore is pitting girls against boys with the losing team having to serve the winners their lunch; SEGRO is assembling a panel of senior managers to judge its staff’s creations; office neighbours Carter Jonas and CoStar are going head-to-head; and Gerald Eve is selling the recipes of its culinary-inclined colleagues in its very own cook book.

Grosvenor, Voyanta and LaSalle Investment Management are showing their sporty side by hosting a crazy golf, badminton and netball tournament respectively. PwC and CoStar Glasgow are limbering up for 5-a-side football tournaments whilst elsewhere, directors at Tower8 and Legal & General are battling it out on spin bikes, Turley‘s Southampton team is running a Kilimanjaro stair climb and Bilfinger GVA Leeds is going bowling.

Bellenden is getting active too, embarking on a 40-mile walk of the inner London boroughs. Also racing around our cities will be Shaftesbury, whose staff are taking on a treasure hunt through Soho, and PwC Birmingham who are recreating classic BBC show Challenge Anneka.

Feeling lucky are Redwood Consulting, whose staff will be hoping they haven’t picked England in their Rugby World Cup sweepstake, Pinsent Masons, who is holding a virtual horse racing showdown, and Palmer Capital whose industry colleagues are going all-in for an exclusive poker tournament.

Party games are on the agenda for Grainger, who is hosting a Monopoly night, Unite, whose staff are looking to out-build each other at a #Lego4LandAid competition, Turley London who is hosting a paper aeroplane throwing contest, Broadgate whose office workers are guessing the sweets in the jar and British Land who is hosting a fundraising bonanza of Mario Kart playing and marshmallow-eating.

Also tackling food challenges are Paragon Building Consultancy whose staff will be consuming as many Jaffa Cakes as possible in one minute (the world record currently stands at 17) and three hungry colleagues from Angermann Goddard & Loyd who are racing to finish a whole chocolate cake in the aptly named ‘Matilda Challenge’.

Keeping quiet are Telereal Trillium, whose staff are taking part in a silent auction, and David Taylor of Pinsent Masons who is attempting a sponsored silence.

Cluttons and RICS will be bringing the great minds in property together for their quizzes whilst Montagu Evans will be testing its employees’ grasp of the English language in a spelling bee.

Levy‘s office will be transformed into a budget airline for the day. Staff who board LevyJet will be charged for virtually everything – from booking meeting rooms and making coffee, to turning up late and using the lift.

Other exciting activities include breakfast al desko served by Irwin Mitchell‘s ‘dinner ladies for the day’, a creative bring and buy sale at Cushman and Wakefield, a swear box at Capstone Recruitment, a pedal car championship at Skanska, collections at the CEM Property Awards, the Brownfield Briefing Awards and the RBS Political and Economic Seminar, and Knight Frank‘s Day of Giving which aims to raise £125,000 for five charities.

Thanks also to Allsop who kicked off LandAid Day celebrations early with their Festival of Cycling in September.

There’s still time to do something funny, sporty or out of the ordinary for LandAid Day on 15 October. Check out our fundraising toolkit for inspiration or email our fundraising team if you want to talk through an idea. Don’t forget, the money you raise will help disadvantaged young people all across the UK to realise their potential.
