LandAid is delighted to have been shortlisted for the EG Superhero Award for our COVID-19 Emergency Fund and Pro Bono appeal.
Whilst we are so excited to have so many of you joining the competition and getting your steps in, it is important to remember why. Across the country, thousands of young, homeless, and vulnerable people still need a roof over their head.
This year has had the biggest impact on our collective mental health. Many of us spent months without seeing friends and family, our celebrations have been postponed and holidays cancelled.
The competitive nature of Steptober can make us forget who we are doing this for. We’re doing this for the 86,000 young people in the UK who face homelessness every year, and who for this year has been especially scary and uncertain.
LandAid’s Steptober challenge is returning for a third year, with registration opening today, Wednesday 26 August.
The LandAid COVID-19 Emergency Fund has now given out £700,000 in small emergency grants of up to £10,000 to over 70 charities in every region in the UK. These funds have already made a huge difference to young homeless people.
Last Wednesday saw the end of QuaranTEN, LandAid’s first virtual walking & running event.
I’ve been truly astounded by the real estate industry over the past few months. You’ve stood by your charity through thick and thin - not only raising almost £1m for our Emergency COVID-19 Fund but now by taking the time to run, jog and walk to end youth homelessness at the LandAid QuaranTEN.
