The cost of living crisis. Currently, a phrase which is difficult to escape from. Costs are rising across basic necessities, like food and fuel, and the knock-on effect that this is having on labour market issues is worsening. With winter fast approaching, concerns are heightening. We spoke to Lynn Gradwell, Director of Young People and Care Leaver Services at Look Ahead, about the cost of living crisis and how it is starting to affect them.  

Manchester based Ambassador; Gemma Copp from Buttress Architects has kindly provided us with a brilliant overview of her experience visiting Shelter from the Storm, a free emergency night shelter in London providing for people experiencing homelessness.  

A homelessness project for young woman, which opened over 40 years ago, has received a much-needed renovation thanks to almost £100K of grants and pro bono work from property industry charity LandAid and building consultants Bowman Riley.

Technology is a vital communication lifeline. We have seen this become ever more evident over the last 18 months amid the pandemic. 

Over a third of young homeless people accessing homelessness services have a diagnosed mental health problem. But, just like us, thousands more live day to day with anxiety and depression. And, also just like us, all of this has gotten so much worse over the last year and a half. 

For nearly 6 million people across the UK, universal credit is an essential lifeline.
