The Manchester Buddhist Centre is a registered charity and well-known community hub in the heart of Manchester City Centres Northern Quarter. The space is run by volunteers and the centre team with an importance on reaching out to the people of Manchester to help with social and environmental issues. We encourage a vibrant culture of imaginative, artistic and creative exploration placing importance on friendships to help connect and support one another and the wider community. We are always eager to get involved in local initiatives and supporting people from underrepresented, vulnerable and marginalised groups.
We offer a range of free and heavily subsidised courses to the public around wellbeing that include:
- Free daily/ weekly meditation sessions.
- Courses on managing pain and illness via the Breathworks charity.
- Offer a range of alternative therapies in the Bodyworks space on the 3rd floor including shiatsu, massage and yoga.
- Provide a series of free thematic talks, workshops and events to the public.
The centre is an attractive building and local landmark situated over 5 levels and previously as a working Victorian a cotton mill with many original features in place.

Due to increasing repair costs to the building and the rise in the cost of living, the community have been now exploring ways to remain in the much-loved space. As part of the process, they would welcome support for some or all of the following to evaluate their options:
- Survey – to assess the cost and extent of essential repairs to the building.
- Initial property consultation/ financial modelling – an evaluation of the current options for remaining in the current space, including maybe selling/ renting parts of the building etc.
- Designer/ architect/ costings – design and costings for making the building accessible to manual and motorised wheelchair users (update 2018 costings).
