About the Organisation

rmhc.org.uk

Ronald McDonald House Charities UK (RMHC) is an independent charity established in part thanks to a donation from the McDonald’s corporation in 1989. Today they have 14 Houses across the UK- including Wales and Scotland that provide up to 530 families a free “home away from home” when they have a sick child in hospital.

Their houses mean families are moments from their child’s bedside without having to worry about the cost of accommodation nor travelling from home to hospital daily. The houses provide a family with an ensuite bedroom that can sleep up to 4 people, access to family kitchens to cook, laundry services and communal spaces for families to look after themselves in a supportive environment. Their average stay is around 16/17 nights, but the longest stay was over 1,000 nights.

Since 1989, they have been the charity of choice for McDonalds who support through staff fundraising, attending events and the gift of allowing their customers to donate through coin collection as well as round-up at kiosk and app.

Whilst, McDonalds are the charity’s largest corporate partner, Ronald McDonald House still needs help through other partners and supporters to play a vital part in providing essential services to the families of sick children.

RMHC have 14 properties around the UK varying in size from 7 to 84 bedrooms. Some of the properties are between 3-4 years old, while one is over 30 years old. There is also demand for the charity to open more houses.

As a result, the charity requires pro bono support with the following:

  • Development of an ESG policy with guidance and recommendations to better understand how they can work towards it and what to prioritise.
  • Support in undertaking condition surveys of four of their properties to help plan for any required maintenance. The properties requiring surveys are in London (Moorfields), The Wirral, Brighton, and Edinburgh.
